High Head Canvasback
by Scott Jackson (1852-1929)
Wooden Wing Duck Decoy

This is a great looking wooden
wing duck that was used on
the wings of a sink box as with
their iron counterparts. It is
believed to have been made
by Scott Jackson (1852-1929)
Charlestown, MD. It is very
early and in great condition
with a neck crack and missing
a chunk of wood making the
neck unstable. It is a great
example of a upper bay wing
decoy no matter who you
think the maker is. It would
be a easy fix for a professional
restorer. I'll leave that up to the
next owner. When sink boxes
were outlawed these were
usually taken back to the shop
and had a bottom added to go
back into use in the hunting rig.
